A total of 78 teams took part in this tournament which took place over a period of two months. At the end of it all, after 70 games played, it was Mtuba Spurs of Emtuba and Danone FC of Mkhanyagude who had to battle it out in the finals.

It was evident from the first whistle that Mtuba Spurs wanted to defend their trophy. Within the opening 15 minutes the defending champions had already put two past Danone’s goal keeper. It wasn’t all doom and gloom for the keeper who managed to save a spot kick which could have made it 3-0 before half time.
Danone looked a much better side after the break, as their defence was more composed and took everything that Mtuba’s strikers threw at them. But the defending champions still managed to sneak in their third, which made it 3-0.

At the end of the game Mtuba Spurs were succssesful defenders of the Msholozi cup. After the finals, the crowd was entertained by a flair of football from the Sundowns Legends who played against Ukhozi FM Stars. The game ended in a one all draw.
