PUMA, the official technical apparel partner of Mamelodi Sundowns, has unveiled the new 2017/18 Home and Away kit paying tribute to the team’s “Brazilian” bloodline, under the global sports brand’s PLAY LOUD mantra.

PUMA, the official technical apparel partner of Mamelodi Sundowns, has unveiled the new 2017/18 Home and Away kit paying tribute to the team’s “Brazilian” bloodline, under the global sports brand’s PLAY LOUD mantra.

A design feature of the shirt is the word BRAZILIANS, created in unique lettering inspired by African symbolism and embossed on both the Home and Away kits. Brazilians is the nickname the reigning CAF Champions acquired by wearing the colours of the Brazilian national team.

“With this Bloodline kit we are honouring our loyal supporters, who have been our pillar of strength in good and bad times. This kit also honours our rich history as Bafana Ba Style”, said Mamelodi Sundowns Communications Manager Thulani Thuswa, when speaking of the club’s history.

The match day shirt has performance-enhancing ACTV THERMO.R technology strategically inserted in both the front and back, to ensure players maintain their body temperature at an optimum performance level.

“Our Partners, PUMA have pulled out all the stops in terms of technology and innovation, while still staying true to our heritage”, said Thuswa. “Our players will feel like the true superstars that they are whenever they step onto the pitch in this new kit.”

The Brazilians will showcase their new kit on 7 July 2017 when they take on AS Vista in a CAF Championship pool game.

“As their apparel sponsor we are proud of the Sundowns’ dynasty and wanted the new kit to express their bloodline. The Brazilians reference is about the team colours, but also their commitment to play loud and fast, with flair,” said PUMA Marketing Manager, Brett Bellinger.

The global sports brand will introduce fanwear throughout the season in a series of drops, ranging from caps (now available) and beanies to zip up jackets and backpacks so supporters can show off their very own Bafana Ba Style.

“I’m sure the Brazilians fans around South Africa will be excited by the kit design, as well as the new collection of training and fanwear”, said Thuswe. “It is with great excitement to bring out an amazing, quality product into the market for our supporters, especially after a historic year, where we conquered Africa ‘Against All Odds’. Our supporters deserve it. In our first year with PUMA as our partners we lifted the Champions League and Super Cups for the first time in the club’s illustrious history. The Sky Is The Limit as to what this partnership can achieve in the long run. With PUMA, Mamelodi Sundowns is Forever Faster.”

The Mamelodi Sundowns 2017/18 kit will be available as of 3 July from PUMA stores for R799 with fanwear following suit hitting PUMA and selected stores from August 2017.

  12. Mfana says:

That’s what is called branding and the big question is where have u been all these years Puma?We r going to like this partnership with the sports apparel.I wish it (partnership)to stay for a very very long time.Unlike that rubbish that was called Nike.

  13. Sam-4-Downz says:

Not very impressive to be honest, but better than the last season’s Jersey. We need a new vibrant communications manager, a graduate who’s a Downs by birth. Someone fun, outspoken and a go getter, this Thulani Thuswa guy is just a slap in the face really. We need personnel who have Downs best interest at heart, also the marketing team is very relaxed, it’s like they’re relying heavily on the anti-Downs SA media. So my question is do we have Downs fans as our personnel or do we have rats and zebras who are just after Motsepe Money?

    • yellow boss says:

I really don’t think that marketing department do exist because it really failing the brand and the less said about the webmaster the better.

      • Maja says:

There is no way we have a marketing department, always hearing about the team news from other publications, too sad for a team of our stature, we are too far off from filling the stadiums when the team plays, the team needs to be marketed, this arrogant “we are doing great and as such people should attend automatically” does not hold water.

The team needs to be marketed, aggressively so.

        • yellow boss says:

Currently we are on the past game yet the team is playing Sunday night. The webmaster should be really ashamed of himself or herself.

  14. Da Prof says:

Its a nice kit!Its not confusing like other teams.

  15. Mfana says:

Sam4Downs I’ve been wandering even on the side of selling tickets.Months, weeks&days goby without being told abt the availability of the tickets. As for the webmaster u wud think that he or she’s dead bcoz u wud get an update after a very long time with development that has been highlighted by other sources.Ive been asking about partnership with Supersport, etv, nashua or any company that would give us quality website&current update about our team.

  16. msojaer says:

Finally PUMA gives us something we last ended during diadora era

  17. Godfather says:

I will make sure I got 2 for me and 2 for my wife.Hope is good as puma respect our colours .unlike this away colours for 2017, The Gr8 yellow family

  18. King K says:

THE shirt is R800 -The rise in fake kit going forward, Puma need a review of pricing strategy or the club need t subsidize the kit

  19. Mfana says:

King K don’t even think about buying a fake or fong kong or any counterfeit that has Sundowns logo because by doing so you’ll be destroying the brand. The better way is to buy the jersey in instalments,Sundowns will be the best brand in SA&internationally thanks to you &all of us for buying the original attire of the team.I have seen ppl buying expensive Manchester United Madrid and so on for all the best money can buy.

  20. Mfana says:

There’s this rumour abt Sundowns chasing Brockie. Is it true Brazilians, if so or not so, have Sundowns 4gotten how many foreigners in our squad.Brockie is too simple and can’t go in the middle of the park and collect the ball &make those inter passes that wud create space for other people to score goals.R we just chasing an individual to only wait for team effort to come with positive results.Ndlela,Rodgers&Niang once played for the club, but how many goals did they score at Sundowns combined?Sundowns shud buy local strikers or bring back players like Ntuli,Ngele plus maybe buy one defensive midfielder in the mould ot Kekana just in case of injuries. And recruit players from development ranks.Sundowns cant buy players based on having a good season.I mean how old is Brockie?Sundowns stop enriching other clubs at the expense of buying players. We have been enough of Villa,We can look for the replacement of Dolly but other that I don’t know.Lets trust home grown players.Kaboyelo.

  21. Mzimela says:

Mfana i agree with u but unfortunate what ever u says fall in deaf ears nothing speacial about Brockie just matter our technical are love foreign players like nobody,s busines

  22. Fraser. says:

100% Brockie is not a sundowns material

  23. Kagiso says:

When will it reach retail outlets such as Totalsports?

  24. mashasha says:

When are playing guys is it 7 or 9 July? Confused help us

  25. Romario says:

I always say nothing beats marketing.. our marketing team is doing absolutely nothing to grow the brand, after being african champions we should at least get an average attendance of 15000 fans for our home games. look at Chelsea it was not really a top team in England not even Europe, but currently it’s one of the top and most supported team in Europe, with fans all over the world. Coca Cola is a massive brand, but we still see it being advertised everyday on Tv, radio, magazines, etc…I belief we got the money to market the team way better than we doin now. Sundowns got a big following but how do we bring them to fill the stadium, that should be the assignment given to the marketing team! The SA media, refs just hate sundowns they are unreliable so i guess it us against the world!

  26. Mzimela says:

Dolly replacement we have enough at MDC problem on technical team don,t have vision even was groomed here was never see that potential he have untill Ajax gave him opportunity this time are golden talent at sundown problem we look far

  27. Get Lebese from chiefs coach and push him little bit then we r sorted on left wing,

  28. Ngwende says:

I concur, our markeing is dead. They fail to make Sundowns tracksuits available to all sports shops.

  29. Dumza says:

I like it, it represents championship

  30. mandla weSundowns says:

Hopefully I will get one of these jerseys ngeweekend. Kaboyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellow

  31. Khwezisi says:

This looks much better than last year, I will get one! I am sure that next year will be wow!

  32. Max Moloi says:

Hope i can afford to buy for my whole family , five jerses to be precises . This kit Rocks .
