I have high hope that this guy Thokozani Sekotlong will be our good acquisition this season because some people are already writing him off before even kick the ball unlike when we sign a star everybody just go crazy like we did when we signed Sibusiso Vilakazi but look what a disappointment is he right now.

Thokozani reminds me when we signed Surprise Moriri some of us didn’t overjoyed but his first game in our colours in Charity Cup he was outstanding and he even won the man of the match on that particular game after that he was our darling until he retires.

Thokozani my man I’m fully behind you all da way even if they can give you jersey no.14 of the legend I’ll be happy.Kby forever.

I’d never seen him play but I’ve got a good feeling that we have captured a good striker and I’m happy we finally signed a striker……….. I wish downs could add one more striker in Mvala from HP,,,, kby

  17. How GOOD is this boy? was he signed just because he is from Mamelodi?I hear that Downs wants more mamelodi born players, if that is the criteria to buy players I think we are loosing the plot.

    • collen says:

It depends which angle you view it member. The signing of Mamelodi born players in my view will improve attendance in our home games. People go the stadium for different reasons but to tell you the truth nothing is appealing than going to the stadium to support one of your own. Chances are, we might have scored ten more people in the stands.
secondly, the boy is hungry to make a name for himself. He will play with pride representing his home team.

New Mamelodi Sundowns striker Thokozani Sekotlong expressed his delight at signing for his boyhood club and knows that his father will cry tears of joy following the completion of the deal.

Sekotlong was confirmed as a Sundowns player on Thursday, signing a five year contract with the African champions who have also signed Razak Brimah, Oupa Manyisa and George Lebese recently. The 26-year-old will wear the number 37.

Sekotlong is from Mamelodi and delighted to be back home, playing for one of the country’s biggest clubs.

“I have always been a big fan, since I was a little boy and supporting them at stadiums. My father is going to cry. I even had the Disprin jersey [used in the late 90s], so definitely it’s a proud moment,” Sekotlong said.

“Since leaving University of Pretoria [in 2013], I have always been away from home. So being back at home, especially at a team like Sundowns, means the most to me. It’s a dream come true. It’s a proud move for both me and my family.”

Sekotlong was released by Ea Lla Koto despite scoring seven goals in all competitions last season.

“It’s kind of funny. I was playing for Free State Stars. I did well in the first half of the season but I got injured. When we came back for pre-season, I travelled with the team with my injuries but not knowing what the provlem was.

“Free State Stars decided to terminate my contract. Obviously I was clubless and I was looking for a team, so that’s when Sundowns came through to give me a chance. I did have other offers but I could not turn this one down because it’s an opportunity of a lifetime.”

Sekotlong is hoping to make a valuable contribution at the club, as they look to reclaim the Absa Premiership title.

“I am an explosive player. I am really good with making runs and I love scoring goals. I think I got a good technique on me and I can take free kicks.”

  21. Bucks says:

So we signed him because he was a free agent, WOW!

  22. freddy says:

    I’m happy for him goodluck

  23. collen says:

Welcome home boy. Always remember that hard work pays off. If you want to command a place in the starting 11, be disciplined, work hard, respect your job and your coaches , always aim high. Take inspirations to players like Wayne Arendse and Mabunda. They waited for their chance and once presented, they never looked back.

  24. ITDowns says:

    Welcome to the team boy.
But I’m still waiting for signature of a strong defender like Brian Onyango. We are leaking at the back.

    • Mzimela says:

Member are u aware that Onyango is Foreigner have notice that foreign spot exhausted whom to be released to favour Onyanga i wonder why so much love of foreigners

      • ITDowns says:

I hear you member. My bet is that Castro is on his way out. With Ngele and Mala getting their local papers, we should have one spot available. Rivaldo Coetzee is set for an overseas move, do you have any alternative local defender in mind?

        • Mzimela says:

I get your point member i hear that Kwanda Mngonyama left pmburg City to Sundowns we should encourage to promote than recruit more foreign player im not against them but we had too many bro thanks 4 sportman respond

  25. kick boboza says:

Welcome home Boy,I have a feeling that this boy will finish them.

  26. Mfana says:

I c nothing wrong in signing a player whos a free agent. Can we sign players at half a cost, including Sekotlong bcoz u look at a particular player who costs an arm&a leg becoming a huge flop.We welmcome u boy with open arms,I’m always the one who makes noise about buying players that r over 30 years, this timearound I must give credit where its due.I’ve bn criticising Sundowns 4 not grooming or buying players tht r coming from MAMS.Now what more do I want, buying buying extraordinary players cant always give what u want ,mayb they take too long to adjust&gel with new envirnment. This boy (Sekotlong)is stating that this is his boyhóod club that he dreamt to play for.Grab every chance u r given&make every doubting Thomas to eat humble pie.We welcome u to the Yellow Nation.

  27. Bongani Khambule says:

I hope Zakri will now sit on the bench

  28. mtho4downs says:

  31. SwaziBoy says:

All the luck Sekotlong! though to many we have not seen him in action. Thanks to member Kuluk for sharing that info on our new signee – how shameful to our webmaster. Its quite refreshing that we are signing a relatively unknown – its a sign that at least we are scouting for talent. We can only urge the boy to work hard and be patient for his time.

    • kulakk says:

@ Swaziboy, Our Webmaster is a Big Flop … We always hear Sundowns News on Other Websites …. Checking Player Profiles , u find that Half of Our players is Not there … Yeeeerrrrr

  34. Emjay says:

This boy is deadly especially with free kicks. He is strong when taking on defenders. He plays like his uncle Philly. Sekotlong whom I played with. His father Norman Sekotlong was also a good footballer at Mamelodi High School. Welcome young man.
