The Mamelodi Sundowns under-17 team has been knocked out of the Gauteng Future Champs after loosing 5-4 on penalties to Bidvest Wits in the playoffs.

The playoffs were played at the Nike Center, Pimville in 25 minutes halves.

The Brazilians were drawn against Kaizer Chiefs in the first semifinal match of the day and Sundowns won that match 2-0. In the other semifinal of the day Bidvest Wits beat Black Aces 1-0 to book their place in the final.

This then meant meant that the final of the playoffs would be contested by Sundowns and Wits and both knew very well the importance of the match, as the winner would go to the international phase of the Gauteng Future Champs games.

The match was a tightly contested one and ended in a goalless draw.  Sundowns went on to lose the match 5-4 on penalties.

The Yellow Nation is not very good on penalty shootouts. Why is that? Even our development now? Who can forget the recent MultiChoice Diski Challenge? Let’s try and improve on that going.

We beat Chiefs two-nil. Yintle lonto! Now the big boys must do the same to Chiefs when we meet later this season.
