The Miss Mamelodi Sundowns annual pageant is a platform for young South African Women, where women empowerment is at the forefront of ensuring that they realise their ambition, where they are able to build self-confidence and to align with a prominent football brand – Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club.
The competition has proven to be more than just a beauty pageant, as brand ambassadors of the club the selected women must champion empowerment, philanthropic work within the Sundowns Community, encourage women support for the club and break stereotypes in the football world.
Each year the Miss Mamelodi Sundowns team conducts a nationwide search to find women who are ambitious, confident, tenacious; who aspire to work and uplift the Sundowns community and who will positively represent the brand in a myriad of settings through action and demeanour.
This year is a milestone and marks the tenth Miss Mamelodi Sundowns anniversary since its inception in 2011.
The 2021 instalment of this pageant promises to be one which exemplifies the values of the competition also bringing in a new era with a refreshed look and feel.

Our current Miss Mamelodi Sundowns is Kadija Makhanya, a 23-year old who hails from Umlazi, Kwa-Zulu Natal.
Kadija is a graduate from the Mangosuthu University of Technology, where she received her ND in Civil Engineering. She is currently completing her B Tech at the Tshwane University of Technology in Construction Management.
Kadija describes herself to be open-minded, empathetic and vigilant. During her reign as Miss Mamelodi Sundowns, Kadija has been able to use her platform to empower herself as well as be an ambassador for the Mamelodi Sundowns community, being involved in a number of club-based initiatives. Kadija has been vital in helping to propel the Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies Team who are continuously striving towards new heights on and off the pitch.
“I want to be of positive light and hope in this world. I would like to be remembered as a person of grace and compassion to everyone I’ve come across. I’d like to make a difference using my skills, talent and the work that I do to also contribute and serve the development of Africa and its beautiful people.”
Along with furthering her education, Kadija is also a part-time model at Indoni models and D&A.
