‘Riva’ made his professional debut at the age of 17 in the colours of Ajax Cape Town, where he was part of their youth structures. In 2014 he made his Bafana senior debut at the age of 17 and 361 days. He represented South Africa at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Rivaldo has overcome adversity to recover from a career-threatening injury and in now a mainstay in the Sundowns midfield, earning a Midfielder of the Season nomination at the 2020/21 PSL awards.
