Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies team have officially been awarded their winners trophy, medal and cheque for being the inaugural champions of the SAFA National Women’s League. Andile Dlamini was very excited when she spoke about the trophy and said ” The fact that we had to wait, it shows that we had worked hard for it, getting the trophy makes it more valuable as now we have something to show for our hard work.
The side led by Coach Jerry Tshabalala won the league without losing a game and as a result of their hard work earned themselves a spot in the CAF Champions League next year.
“At Mamelodi Sundowns we always do our best as we are playing for the badge and strive for excellence. Winning is the goal at all times and winning the league with no loss and for the first time, the teams we played against were not easy and with winning running in the blood at Sundowns it shows what hard work can do” said the shot-stopper.
The Banyana Banyana International was also awarded the Goalkeeper of the season.
The team has already started training for the challenging new season which will see both sides from Chloorkop competing in the continental showpiece.
