Banyana Ba Style Aim to Extend Dominance Against Durban Ladies

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will be aiming to continue their stunning form in the Hollywoodbets Super League when they face Durban Ladies on Saturday morning. Coming off a commanding 5–0 victory over the University of Johannesburg, the Brazilians will be eager to build on their momentum and extend their impressive unbeaten streak.

With confidence soaring in the camp and competition for places at an all-time high, Banyana Ba Style are looking sharper, hungrier and more determined than ever.

Forward Lelona Daweti, who made a goal-scoring return from injury in the previous match, spoke passionately about the team’s spirit, preparation and respect for their opponents.

“We have been gaining so much wisdom from the coaches, and every training session feels like a new opportunity to grow and improve. The atmosphere in the team is amazing, as everyone is motivated, focused, and pushing one another to be better. The team spirit is very high and that energy is translating beautifully into our performances on the field.”

Saturday’s opponents, Durban Ladies, may currently be rooted at the bottom of the log, but Daweti insists that the team will not take them lightly.

“We know that Durban Ladies will come out fighting because they are a proud team with a lot of heart. They may not be at the top of the table right now, but they always play with determination and intensity. We are not underestimating them at all; in this league, every match presents its own challenges. Our approach is to stay disciplined, respect our opponents, and play our brand of football. For us, it is all about securing three points, maintaining our standards and continuing to make our supporters proud.”

Midfielder Cimone Sauls also reflected on what has kept Sundowns Ladies performing at such a consistently high level and outlined the team’s mindset ahead of the Durban clash.

“I think the key to maintaining such consistency is our commitment as a group and our winning mentality. Every player in this squad understands her role and we all give one hundred percent in everything we do — not just during matches, but in training, recovery and preparation. The coaches demand excellence and we hold each other accountable to that standard. Our focus for the Durban game is on sticking to our game plan and maintaining our intensity from start to finish.”

Banyana Ba Style has maintained complete dominance over Durban Ladies in recent years. In 2022, the Brazilians secured a 5–0 away win in Durban and a 1–0 triumph at home. In 2023, they were even more ruthless, recording a 6–1 home victory and a 6–0 win away. Their dominance continued into 2024, with a 5–1 win in Pretoria and another 5–1 victory in Durban. Earlier this season, in 2025, Sundowns once again prevailed 3–1 away from home. The Brazilians have scored 31 goals and conceded only four over the last seven meetings between the two sides.

The game between Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and Durban Ladies will take place at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday, 1 November 2025, at 11:00.
