Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies continued their perfect start to the 2026 Hollywoodbets Super League season with another convincing victory, this time overcoming Tuks in the Tshwane Derby at the University of Limpopo on Sunday.
Banyana Ba Style once again showed their quality and composure, putting together a strong performance to maintain their 100% record in the league.
The reigning Champions took the lead in the 14th minute through Melinda Kgadiete, who found the back of the net to put the Brazilians in control.
Tuks refused to sit back and made the contest a competitive one, creating a game in which Sundowns were able to find space and play their football. The Brazilians extended their advantage in the 58th minute when Refilwe Tholakele continued her outstanding run in front of goal, adding another goal to her impressive tally this season.
The Brazilians continued to press for more and were rewarded again in the 69th minute, with Wendy Shongwe finding the back of the net to complete a dominant performance from Banyana Ba Style.
Speaking after the match, Oratile Mokwena acknowledged the difficult nature of the Tshwane Derby and praised Tuks for their approach, while also highlighting how their willingness to attack created opportunities for Sundowns to impose their style of play.
“The game was tough. We knew coming into this match that it was going to be a difficult one because it is a derby and they were not going to make it easy for us. They did not sit back and they came at us, which made the game very competitive. But at the same time, that allowed us to play our game because there was space for us to move the ball, create opportunities and express ourselves. We had to stay focused, remain patient and make sure that we took advantage of the opportunities that came our way. We knew that if we kept playing our football and working together as a team, the chances would come. We managed to stay composed, we scored our goals and we came out on top. It was a good team performance and we are happy to get another three points.”
The victory further underlined Sundowns Ladies’ impressive start to the season, as they have now won eight straight games and are yet to concede a goal.
In terms of goal-scoring, Noxolo Cesane leads the way with five goals, followed by Refilwe Tholakele and Isabella Ludwig with three goals each. Lebohang Ramalepe, Nonhlanhla Mthandi, Lelona Daweti and Boitumelo Rabale have each scored twice, while Karabo Dhlamini, Munashe Mugwara, Nthabiseng Majiya, Ronnel Donnelly, Melinda Kgadiete and Wendy Shongwe have each found the back of the net once. There has also been one own goal recorded during Sundowns Ladies’ eight-game winning run.
