Banyana Ba Style cruise past Copperbelts Ladies to maintain perfect record

Mamelodi Sundowns continued their remarkable start to the Hollywoodbets Super League season thanks to a dominant 4-1 victory over newly promoted Copperbelts Ladies at the Tsakane Stadium on Sunday.

Goals from Lelona Daweti, Boitumelo Rabale, Melinda Kgadiete and Andisiwe Mgcoyi were enough to hand Banyana Ba Style all three points in a comprehensive showing of attacking football.

Coach Jerry ‘Kappa’ Tshabalala deployed Andile Dlamini in goal while Zanele Nhlapho, Tiisetso Makhubela, Bambanani Mbane and Karabo Dlamini started in defense. Oratile Mokwena, Boitumelo Rabale and Nonhlanhla Mthandi anchored the midfield while Lehlogonolo Mashigo, Lelona Daweti and Melinda Kgadiete were handed the attacking reins.

The Brazilians dominated the first half in terms of territory and possession and were two goals up with Lelona Daweti and Boitumelo Rabale finding the back of the net.

After the restart, Melinda Kgadiete bagged her second goal of the campaign thanks to a fine finish before she was replaced by Andisiwe Mgcoyi. The newly introduced Mgcoyi got into the scoring action almost immediately as Sundowns Ladies seized total control of the fixture.

Despite a late goal from the Limpopo-based side, Banyana Ba Style had done enough to seal their fourth win of the season to extend their perfect start to the season.

Nonhlanhla Mthandi expressed her delight after Sundowns Ladies notched up a dominant victory against the league newcomers.

“The game was a challenge for us, as we were facing a newly promoted team eager to prove themselves. Despite the difficulty, we remained composed and played to our strengths. Scoring the first goal was crucial, as it helped to settle our nerves and establish control. Overall, we are happy with the result and excited for what’s to come,” the midfielder stated.

Substitute Andisiwe Mgcoyi was pleased with her performance off the bench, “I am ecstatic to have scored my first goal of the season. It was a great feeling to see the ball hit the back of the net and contribute to the team’s success. I have been working hard in training and it’s rewarding to see that pay off in a game situation. Hopefully, I can build on this and score more goals.”

Bambanani Mbane also hailed the big win despite being denied a clean sheet in the end, “I am excited that we achieved our biggest triumph of the season so far. While I’m not entirely satisfied that we conceded a goal from a defensive standpoint, I’m pleased with our overall performance. We played much better today than we have in previous matches, and I hope that this result will motivate us to perform even better in the games to come.”

Although not getting on the scoresheet, the versatile Lehlogonolo Mashigo was named Player of the Match. The victory also maintained Sundowns Ladies’ perfect start to the season, as they have now won four consecutive matches and are currently atop the table with 12 points.

Up next for Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies FC is a clash against TS Galaxy.
