Banyana Ba Style Set for Crucial Showdown with Edo Queens

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will aim to finish the group stage on a high as they face Nigeria’s Edo Queens in a decisive Group B clash on Saturday. The Brazilians head into this game after a comprehensive 4-0 win over Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) in their second group fixture.

Mbali Ntimane believes the mood in the camp is one of determination and focus. “We are in deep concentration mode. We can be happy about the 4-0 victory, but we still have a crucial game ahead that we need to win. The job is not done yet, and we are preparing to perform best against our opponents.”

Banyana Ba Style currently sits on three points in Group B and knows that a win will send them into the knockout phase of the competition for the fourth straight year. However, Mbali expects a tough challenge from the Nigerian side, who also need a win to progress.

“We respect Edo Queens as a team with great quality. They have shown they can compete at this level, so we need to be disciplined and execute our game plan effectively. Our preparation has been thorough, and we are confident in our abilities, but we know that matches like these are often decided by small margins. It is going to take teamwork, commitment and a strong mentality to get the result we need,” she added.

Lehlogonolo Mashigo echoed similar sentiments, praising the competitive spirit within the team during training sessions ahead of the crucial encounter. “The mood in the team is high and exciting. We are pushing each other to be at our best because we still have hope and belief that we are going to qualify for the semis. Everyone is motivated and focused on the task ahead.”

Mashigo also highlighted the importance of preparation and unity within the squad. “We know it will not be an easy game, but we have been working hard, both tactically and mentally. The energy in camp is amazing and we are all determined to put in a performance that reflects our commitment and hunger for success.”

The match between Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and Edo Queens is scheduled for Saturday, November 16th, at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca. Kickoff is set for 18H00 (19:00 CAT).
