“It is an honor for me to be giving this short tribute to the captain on his birthday” said the Sundowns Legend. Michael Manzini led the Brazilians to seven league titles from the start of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) era in the 1996/97 season.
He started playing for the team in 1995 and only resigned in 2009 when he became one of the coaches at the Mamelodi Sundowns Academy.
“A genuine human being – a strong-willed person. A very honest and accommodating person, always willing to listen and positively contribute to conversations. Hlompho Kekana has always displayed a lot of passion, both on and off the field.”
“Skipper, I have always known you as this dynamic captain, more in the mould of Lothar Matthäus. With an incredible hunger and desire on the pitch….” continued Manzini
