Chilli Boys Await Brazilians In Gqeberha

Mamelodi Sundowns will be looking to make it two wins in a row in the DStv Premiership when they take on Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

Masandawana go into the game on the back of a thrilling 1-0 opening day victory over AmaZulu FC, whilst the hosts also collected maximum points against Sekhukhune United on the weekend at the Makhulong Stadium.

Tuesday’s encounter provides The Brazilians another opportunity to keep the winning momentum going. Chippa narrowly survived relegation last season, however, according to Coach Manqoba Mngqithi it won’t be easy playing against the Chilli Boys under title-winning Coach Gavin Hunt.

“I am expecting a tough match, knowing Gavin Hunt – even the goal they scored against Sekhukhune was from a set piece. They’ve got some very strong players like [Roscoe] Pietersen, [Sammy] Seabi and [Veluyeke] Zulu, all those players are a factor, even Eva Nga. [Mokgakolodi] Tsotso Ngele is also a big factor on set pieces because he is also good aerially, he is very good in and around the area box from direct free kicks.” said Coach Manqoba.

“You can expect a game that will have a lot of aerial duels, a game that will have a lot of a bite because Chippa works very hard and Gavin you know his teams are never easy to break down.”

Downs will be confident to win the encounter, having won both matches played against their hosts in the previous DStv Premiership campaign. The Chilli boys started their new season campaign with a victory and may look to protect their winning streak against the defending Champions.

“One also foresees a possibility of them sitting in a little bit. They played with three center backs against Sekhukhune United, with two wing backs and three central midfielders and two up top [therefore] you can expect a game that will be a little bit frustrating with a bit of directness offensively from [Ismail] Watenga who has got a very good kick and Eva Nga on top.” said Coach Manqoba.

The Bafana Ba Style Coach expressed concerns over the injuries that the team is facing and will be looking to bring on other players up to complete the tasks at hand.

“What is not helping us at this stage is the injuries that we’ve had. That has made our life a little bit difficult in our selection and maybe changing a team that has been doing well. After two matches with two wins you would not want to tamper with the team, but as it is now we are back to that stage where we have to bring the other players which we believe have the capacity to help the team.”

Mamelodi Sundowns face Chippa United FC in the DStv Premiership Campaign on Tuesday, 24 August 2021 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. Kick-off is 17H00 and will be live on SuperSport PSL 202.

Webmaster pls just for once do your job properly Downs is a big team,we can’t depend on other publication about Downs news all the time whereas we do have our own website.
Nascimento is back with us and he’s even started training but you kept quite thanks to kick-off website for letting us know.
Another thing how many foreigners are registered with us this season because Bangaly is still there and we don’t know what’s the latest about Affonso because our webmaster is not bothered to inform us maybe they did on social media but its not all of us who had those accounts.
We need to be informed all the time about our lovely team even those players that were loaned this season we must depends on Laduma and Kick-off websites.

Ooh masandawana judging from the game against chippa, chiefs and amazulu I don’t know what these coaches want to prove, the way they play, their lineup yoooh is to bad. from what I see today against chippa we are going to struggle this season unless soothing changes. I’m disappointed

What to SAY about this game…..less said the better…..Sirino it was good to see you wanting to win and showing your class….. again River”…. never give us anything going forward….Mnvala can’t make a simple pass…Keke and Jali… would be good there….. since Maboe is injured…. guess it was a tough game

Our line up was so bad you let Makgalwe leave and you brought nightmare, we drew with Ghippa you let our players on the grandstand and that play suited Chippa not Mamelodi Sundowns.

To the management, please, please, please, the sooner we get rid of Mokwena and Mnqiti the better for the progress of the team.I challenge all Downs faithfulness who think these 2 coaches can win us champions league to come raise their hands.Mvala and Coetzee play the same style with no creativity. We need play makers in the middle. You can’t play 6 defenders against Chippa. To show that we have clueless coaches, you replaced offensive players and leave defensive players whe the team you play against never had a single at goal for 90 minutes. We have many but you put more defenders on the pitch. This cowards are talking us nowhere. Why spending more millions on acquiring offensive players and put them on the bench and in the stands?.We win many league without strikers and now we are struggling with many strikers. Is Motupa injured because he complemented Shaulile very well last season. We have a very good team with an awful technical team.We need a coach who can complement our good squad. We better create chances and fail to score than fail to score.

I thought they will quickly change it 2nd half when they see the Chippa game plan. I also agree, team selection wasn’t proper. Maybe there’s something we don’t know, but there was no way we were going to breach that wall with that line up.

Why can’t sirino and Morena start the games, is Jali Injured?, that was a very poor performance by our standard, how many shots on target, probably one. Very very poor performance. I’m not saying let’s win 30 games bt let’s show class when we play. I thank you
