Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies are gearing up for their sixth game of this season’s Hollywoodbets Super League as they prepare to face newly promoted Lindelani Ladies on Sunday.
The Brazilians showcased dominant form throughout March, securing four wins out of five games. They now aim to extend this impressive run into April. Despite a hiatus from action due to the international break lasting almost three weeks, Chuene Morifi asserts that the team has maintained its fitness level.
“The mood in camp has been really good after a very intensive start to the campaign. The break enabled us time to recover, recharge and spend some time with family during Easter. Despite the brief time off, we ensured that we kept in shape. We have started the season well and the aim is to build on that momentum and win games to ease the pressure a little bit,” Chuene stated.
On a personal note, Morifi has vibrantly commenced the season, already netting two goals: one against TS Galaxy Queens and another against the University of Johannesburg (UJ). The versatile left-footer acknowledges that Lindelani Ladies present a different challenge from those encountered in March.
“It is going to be a tricky match considering Lindelani Ladies are a new team in the league. However, I am confident our pre-game analysis has provided insights on how to approach and prepare for the game. Like any other fixture, we are not going to underestimate them as the league remains unpredictable,” Chuene concluded.
Lehlogonolo ‘Hlogi’ Mashigo shares Morifi’s sentiment, anticipating that the KwaZulu-Natal-based side will be eager to make a strong impression following their promotion from the Sasol National League.
“As a newly promoted team, we expect them to be fearless and determined to prove themselves. We are eagerly looking forward to the fixture because they will present a different kind of challenge. I think it will be a great game and we look forward to playing against them,” Lehlogonolo stated.
Despite scoring 16 goals in their first five games, Mashigo has issued a rallying call to the team to score more in April.
“When you score goals, you increase your chances of winning games. As such, we are determined to score more in April. I am happy with the way even the new signings have hit the ground running in terms of putting the ball in the back of the net,” Hlogi concluded.
The match between Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and newly promoted Lindelani Ladies is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 14th, at the UJ Soweto Campus. Kick-off is set for 11h30.
