Coach Jerry Tshabalala rallies his troops ahead of JVW FC clash

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will be aiming to consolidate their position at the top of the Hollywoodbets Super League table as they square off against JVW FC in the headline fixture of Match week 24.

The Brazilians showed their resilience and determination last time out as a second-half strike from Melinda Kgadiete handed the reigning champions all three points against a resolute side in Tsunami Queens.

That hard-fought victory saw Banyana Ba Style tighten their grip at the summit of the log with 64 points accrued thanks to 21 wins in 24 games. A massive 93 goals have been scored while just 11 goals have been shipped. A whopping goal difference of +82 further underlines the dominance enjoyed by the continental champions.

TUT FC is placed second on the table with 48 points while JVW FC is placed third with 45 points. Interestingly, only Sundowns Ladies have scored more goals than JVW FC who have scored 62 times.

“We are playing against a very solid side who have found a way to score goals throughout the season. Apart from us, they are one of three teams to have scored 50 goals alongside the University of Johannesburg (UJ) FC. They are very good at creating chances from different positions on the pitch. In Gabriela Salgado and Nompumelelo Nyandeni, they have players capable of hurting anyone. Nevertheless, we have our attacking threats, and we cannot wait to unleash them,” Coach Jerry stated.

Last season, Banyana Ba Style was forced to a 2-2 away draw but clinched a 2-1 victory in the reverse fixture against the Blue Diamonds. Earlier this season, Kappa’s troops secured a 4-2 win over their opponents with Andisiwe Mgcoyi, Zanele Nhlapho, Gabonnelwe Kekana, and Rhoda Mulaudzi all scoring.

Despite enjoying some dominance in this fixture in recent times, Coach Jerry is not taking anything for granted.

“Games against JVW FC are big clashes and in the context of the season, we can consider this game as a top-of-the-table clash. However, we need to take points off the teams that are nurturing any hopes of plotting a challenge for the league title. We are aware of the threats they possess, but we are fearless and ready to battle for maximum points on Sunday,” Kappa concluded.

On the Sundowns’ scoring chart, Boitumelo Rabale and Miche Minnies are tied on 16 goals apiece. Andisiwe Mgcoyi has 10 strikes, Melinda Kgadiete has 8 goals to her name while Rhoda Mulaudzi sits on 7 goals.

The heavyweight clash between Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and JVW FC will take place on Sunday, 16th October 2022, at Wits Main Stadium. The kick-off time for the clash is 15h00.
