Coach Rulani Lauds Technical Team and Players after Saturday’s Victory

Coach Rulani has given credence to the Mamelodi Sundowns players and technical team following their 2-0 victory at home against Chippa United on Saturday evening at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

It was goals from Teboho Mokoena and Taashriq Matthews, who came in as a substitute in the second stanza, that earned the Brazilians a massive victory in their backyard.

Mokoena lobbed the long shot  over the goalkeeper to find the opener for his side. It came from a corner kick which was cleared in the box but Mokoena found the ball and hit it from long range.

Chippa looked to retaliate in the first half but Ronwen Williams rescued the home side when he denied the Chilli Boys what could have been their equaliser. More attempts at goal came from both sides but they couldn’t find the back of the net. Masandawana went to the break with the upper hand.

Taashriq Matthews came in in the second half to cement his name as a great prospect.  He created a few chances before he doubled the lead for his side. His first goal in the yellow jersey came in the final minutes of the match. Despite having a better second half, Coach Rulani’s charges had to settle for the 2-0 scoreline.

Speaking to the media in the post-match press conference, the Masandawana head coach lauded his side for the team effort they displayed in and off the pitch.

“Let me start congratulating the club and everyone involved because today was a very good team effort. I also want to thank the players. It was so easy at the halftime break because before we could say anything, they were already speaking to each other. They were not happy with each other’s contributions in the first half,” he stated.

“It makes the coaching job so much easier because when they demand and hold each other accountable, it’s a lot easier to demand a little bit more from them, so congratulations to them,” he concluded.

Bafana Ba Style will be looking to continue their dominance when they host Supersport United in a derby delight on Tuesday evening.

Starting lineup: Williams, Mdunyelwa, Lebusa, Lunga, Allende, Zungu, Mokoena ©, Modiba, Shalulile, Lorch, Ribeiro.

Subs: Sirino, Zwane, Kekana, Mbule, Matthews, D. Onyango, Esquivel, Morena, Maboe.

Well done! Not the most fluid game I’ve seen from the team…infact I saw a bit of arrogance…maybe that’s fine…but maybe complacency….Williams had to come to the rescue a few times….not because chippa created anything…but our own doing…no one was outstanding…but the was effective…got the job done…congrats to Matthews on his first goal for the team….

    To Peter Sha, Sha, Sha.

Boy we know what you can do for the team, don’t let this dry spell of goal demoralize you.

You are still one of our best players and for that we will always love you.

Be patient, goals will rain your way again
