Mamelodi Sundowns’ Diski Team are back in their backyard this weekend, where they are set to play host to the Polokwane City Reserves on Sunday morning at Tuks Stadium.
The young Brazilians come from the back of a victory they needed against a Stellenbosch side they had been battling to defeat in the past three seasons. The 3-1 victory, courtesy of Siyabonga Mabena, Chuene Moabeloa, and Bennet Mokoena, saw coach Tiro’s charges hold on to the second position for another week.
Heading into a new week with another game to play, the Diski Team coach said the victory on the road at the weekend helped them get the best out of the players as they prepared for their home game on Sunday.
“The training mood after a win is always positive, and it was that case for us going into this week. The boys looked more confident after that win against Stellenbosch last week. We just had the responsibility to control the confidence so they don’t lose focus on our main objective, which is to win our next game,” the coach stated.
Rise and Shine, on the other hand, only managed to salvage a point in their last two matches. Coach Tiro believes that will encourage the Polokwane-based side to fight for a victory so they may return to winning ways. The coach also stated that, despite the kind of game they expect from their opponents, he is confident that his charges can emerge as the victorious side at the end of the 90 minutes.
“Preparations have been going well for us. It has not been easy to prepare for games in the last few weeks due to the matric exams, but we made it work. We now have them back full-time in training. With regards to this game, we have prepared well and enough for Polokwane City.”
“They are a team that always puts up a good fight. They have had unfortunate results in their last two games. So, we expect a team that will fight hard to force a win out of us. We will, however, need to take advantage of being home and try to get maximum points. We head to this match as a confident side. I’m confident the boys will do well on Sunday,” he concluded.
Mamelodi Sundowns’ Diski Team will host the Polokwane City Reserves on Sunday morning at Tuks Stadium. Kick-off has been scheduled for 10H00.
