The Mamelodi Sundowns Diski Team will be looking to bag all points on offer on Sunday afternoon when they face KwaZulu Natal side, Amazulu, at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Clermont.
Coach Themba gave an update on how his charges have been preparing for the return fixture away from home.
“We have been preparing very well. We have a lot of issues with injuries and suspensions but we are looking at it as an opportunity to give the other players a chance because they must also contribute to the success of the team and now would be the right time to do that,” he said.
The last time the two sides met was at home and Masandawana walked away with maximum points from a 2-1 win, where the two goals supplied came in the dying minutes of the match. The return fixture according to Coach Themba, will not be a walk in the park, considering the improvements Usuthu – who are 15th on the table – have made.
“We are playing against a very improved team. I don’t think the log is a true reflection of where they should be. They play good football and have good players. You can see in the last three games, out of nine points, they have picked up four, which is something they were not doing before. They confidence is climbing up so we have to be very careful of this team,” he stated.
“The first game against them was difficult. They scored first and they defended very well and deep. It was a struggle for us to break down their defence. We had to look at our bench and they did very well to win us that game, he continued.
Heading to the encounter, the Diski Team coach has backed his side to emerge victorious and has stated that the team is confident, especially coming from back-to-back wins with clean sheets.
“We are confident. We still have not gotten over the previous results that dented our confidence but we are going into this match with a lot of confidence, a lot of goals and two clean sheets behind us,” Coach Themba concluded.
The Mamemlodi Sundowns Diski Team will go head-to-head with the Amazulu Reserves on Sunday afternoon at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium. Kick-off is set for 12H00.
