Mamelodi Sundowns’ Diski Team is on the road again this weekend for their first DStv Diski Challenge festival of the season. This trip sees them hosting the Durban City Reserves – the newly promoted side – on Saturday afternoon at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium at Kwa-Mhlanga.
The young Masandawana’s last outing produced a 3-1 victory against the Marumo Gallantson on the road. Their Durban City counterparts, meanwhile, recorded their first loss of the season in a 1-0 result. Reflecting on the away fixture last weekend, coach Tirolauded his side for a positive performance and also stated that the result has helped in gearing up for this weekend.
“It’s always good to train after a win. This squad is very young, and they need this kind of confidence. With a good result, the training is a little bit different, and with that good result, the performance wasn’t at its greatest, but we hope to have good performance against Durban City and going forward,” the coach said.
Heading to the festival at the weekend, Bafana Ba Style will hope for a positive result. Coach Tiro said the work has been done on the training field, and he is confident that they can walk away with all points on offer against an opponent he describes as difficult.
“Like I said, we’ve got talented players and it’s just up to them to decide to show up on the day, but I think we’ve got a good structure and we know how to approach the game. Durban City is a good team coached by a very good coach. We just have to be aware of the threats, but for us it will be about holding the ball and using it to the best of our abilities.”
The Mamelodi Sundowns Diski Team will meet the Durban City Reserves on Saturday afternoon at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium. Kick-off is set for 12H30, live on SuperSport TV.
