Mamelodi Sundowns’ Diski Team conquered yet another side when they won 3-2 against the Chippa United Reserves. Goals from Bennet Mokoena, Ntokozo Siquba and Kutlwano Letlhaku that saw Downs walking away with a victory.
Masandawana were forced into an early sub on the fifth minute, Bennet Mokoena bypassed the Chippa defense to go to the right flank. From a tight angle, he tried to fore it in hut the keeper smacked it out of play.
Nine minutes into the opening half, Kutlwano Letlhaku made a defence-splitting pass to Mokoena who was in the box. Mokoena then fired the shot but the keeper chested it. The striker found the rebound and slotted it in to open the scoring for Downs.
The visitors quickly looked to retaliate when they drove to the box, with the Downs defence chasing behind. Luckily, Vincent Sithole made a run to clear the danger away inside the box.
On the 30th minute, the young Brazilians doubled their advantage through Ntokozo Siquba. Letlhaku ran down to the left flank and delivered the ball to Siquba who beat the goalkeeper to find the back of the net.
In the final stages of the first half, the visitors found the back of the net through a penalty shot. The referee had pointed to the spot after a foul on Chippa in the box, which led to a goal. This led to the hosts to monitor the break with just a goal advantage.
The second stanza kicked off with an opportunity from the hosts through Kabelo Sibande who took a shot from the right flank but the ball went across the face of goal.
The Chilli Boys managed to level matters on the 58th minute. They bypassed the Downs defence which led to Nqobani Biyela coming off his line. He couldn’t block the ball which led to the visitors to find the back of the net.
Four minutes later, Downs were tested again with a similar chance seeing Biyela coming off his mark. His effort to block the ball was successful as he cleared it with his chest.
Masandawana almost took back the lead through Gomolemo Kekana when he tried to chip the ball over the defence but he was denied by the crossbar.
On the 85th minute, Bafana Ba Style snatched back the lead, and it was through Letlhaku. After Oarabile Booysen’s attempt which was blocked, Kutlwano found the rebound and shattered the nets.
The goal from Letlhaku was the last action the day, which led to Masandawana walking away with all points on offer.
