Downs All Set for Midweek Clash Against Golden Arrows

Mamelodi Sundowns are back in midweek action as they take on Lamontville Golden Arrows. Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale is where the Pretoria-based side will be traveling for their Wednesday night fixture.

Masandawana is fresh off their tight 1-0 victory over Kaizer Chiefs, which helped in firming up their place on top of the Premiership table, as they hold on to their 18-point lead. They are facing a Golden Arrows side that just came from the back of a 2-0 setback. The previous week’s results, according to coach Miguel Cardoso, won’t matter on Wednesday. He stated that his said won’t be resting on their laurels as they know their Arrows counterparts will come guns blazing.

The 18-point lead will not matter on Wednesday when we face Golden Arrows. The plan is to head to the game with the utmost respect for our opponents. We do not know how they have prepared for us. We are one of the teams to beat this season, so there is always extra energy applied by teams. The mental aspect will also be important, to ensure that we take the game seriously from the beginning so we may get desired results.”

The two sides have already met twice this season and Bafana Ba Style emerged victorious in both encounters. So far this season, Downs has nine goals and has conceded none against Abafana Bes’thende. The visitors will look to record another triple this season – as they have against Kaizer Chiefs – when they face the KwaZulu-Natal outfit. So, winning this game will be important for coach Miguel’s side.

Mamelodi Sundowns will travel to Mpumalanga Stadium to face Lamontville Golden Arrows on Wednesday evening. Kick-off has been scheduled for 19H30 live on SuperSport TV.

I really think everyone is trying their best in stopping Sundowns from winning the league but ,we are gonna prevail against all odds. The fixture congestion we are subjected to is unbelievable, i mean no team in the world has played more game than us in the last five weeks and that has not worked in stopping us and now the refs are also playing their part in stopping us,yesterday’s officiating was terrible. I think Shalulile should also be rested he played more minutes than others in the past 5 games, last night he was aiding Arrows to defend with the fouls he committed up top.We also need to be realistic Lebusa served as we in the past years now he is no longer adding value. My main concern is the continuous playing at the back with players who are not comfortable on the ball,we nearly conceded the 2nd goal in the first half because of Onyango’s stupid decision making,he past the ball to Aubaas between three Arrows players in our box,had Aubaas been disposed we were gonna blame him when is that old men who put him under unnecessary pressure, you can’t pass another player to kick it forward when you could have done that. When we downsize our squad we must also consider age factor. We are not government we can’t keep players until they are unable to walk. Some we must cash out of them and bring fresh blood. The guy like Shalulile if good offers that would benefit him come we must release him and get young players like Cupido. He served us well with distinctions if there’s an opportunity for him to make big money let us release him.My plea is to wrap up this early and start buiding for next season by playing our young players regularly.
