Downs chase top spot

Mamelodi Sundowns will be looking to conclude a successful CAF Champions League group stage campaign with a win against Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca on Saturday afternoon.

Wydad’s win against USM Algers last week Friday saw them join The Brazilians as the second team to qualify for the knockout stages from the tough Group C. With top spot in the group still up for grabs Downs know that a win or a draw against the visitors in on Saturday will see them finish as group winners.

The Moroccan outfit have become familiar foes for The Brazilians, having met on five occasions in 2019 alone, with the most recent meeting coming in the group stage clash in December 2019, played in Casablanca, which ended in a 0-0 stalemate.

Downs will be optimistic as they go into the tie with a favourable home record against the Moroccans, with two wins and two draws in the previous games played on home soil.

Both sides are also chasing domestic silverware with Wydad sitting on top of their domestic league after 13 games played. Sundowns currently sit 2nd in the Absa Premiership as they continue to aim to close the gap to the top.
Mamelodi Sundowns take on Wydad Casablanca at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Kick-off is at 15:00.

All the best to the team , losing has never been an option for the yellow nation, l can foresee a real forceful Sundowns, their quietness this week is like that one of a wounded bull Buffalo. As of signing players now let it pass by, the players we have must just work hard and change things, our average players are still the best else where and why bring players who are less or same standard as you are already in possession of? only someone with an extra or unique skill that can bring a change immediately, not a player who will have to start by competing to get a position, atleast now we needed only players who would be given a chance to deliver. I want believe that the current squad has it all,if they can have the same attitude they have today as we speak teams can bow down easily. We know the attitude for this caf game is right even if they have already qualified, we know the intensity is going to be different. That fighting attitude must be carried forward to the league and cup games, it will make life easier since now many supporters and teams are already excluding Sundowns in the League race. We wait to see the truth end of May.

Our coach Pitso has been commenting in the media about his feel for tomorrows game. I’m certain that his peak of confidence and determination will manifest wuth the team. This game is about confirming a mental win. The team must see the win and feel it. This Africa derby requires a mental win and we are good to go… The coach has already laid the foundation, lets all hop on and experience the reality tomorrow. This will be a good game! It’s a win from me!

I believe as Sundowns we will win this one, the Morocco side has lost momentum compare to previous season, I think Mkhulise and the return of laffor will win us this game, final score 3-0 favour Kabo yellow
