Downs look to bounce back in Tshwane Derby

Mamelodi Sundowns will be looking to return to winning ways when they visit SuperSport United for another installment of the Tshwane Derby on Sunday afternoon.

Matsatsantsa are in third position, trailing Sundowns in second place by just one point. The Brazilians suffered their first loss in 12 games when they fell to Orlando Pirates 1-0 on Wednesday evening. SuperSport United come into the game off the back of a 2-0 victory away to AmaZulu FC, with Evans Rusike and Matthew Grobler grabbing goals.

Both Tshwane outfits have claimed silverware this season with Downs having taken the Telkom Knockout Cup and SuperSport having already won the 2019 MTN8 earlier in the season.

Saturday’s game will be the fourth Tshwane Derby of the season, with one Absa Premiership fixture and two MTN8 fixtures being played between the two sides. With another Derby looming the Nedbank Cup Last 32, Downs will want to secure the victory and head into the cup tie with the upper hand.

Sundowns will be encouraged with their recent derby record in the league, with 5 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss in the last 7 Absa Premiership games against SuperSport.

The Brazilians take on SuperSport United at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday. Kick-off is at 15:30.

Fans of a certain team from Soweto are really something. They think they are doing way better than us. They forget we played and won more games than any team in The PSL. They did nt play in the MTN cup. We played 1 more game than them in the Telkom cup. The worse result we got in the Champions league was draw away to Waydad.
