Downs Register Defeat on the Road

Mamelodi Sundowns have recorded their second defeat of the season in the league, following a 1-0 loss against TS Galaxy on Tuesday evening at the Mbombela Stadium.  

Both sides were playing with no fear in the opening stages. The intensity of the game was demanding the two sides to be aggressive and physical. They both were playing with intention.

The biggest threat first came from the hosts through a long pass but luckily RonwenWilliams quickly came out of his turf to make a save. A few minutes later a retaliation came from Lucas Ribeiro just before the thirty-minute mark, but he was denied by the bar.  

A free kick was awarded to The Rockets following a foul on the edge of the box, but Williams was able to tip it away. The follow-up set pieces didn’t bring any goals. In the closing stages of the first half, TS Galaxy broke the deadlock from a tight angle on the left flank. There was not much time for Masandawana to respond before the break, which saw them heading to the break trailing.  

Masandawana looked to find a goal upon the return of play but the Galaxy goalkeeper was making crucial saves for his side to deny the visitors an opportunity to score. We came close to levelling matters through Teboho Mokoena’s long-rage shot but the ball got smacked away. Aubrey Modiba also came close to finding the back of the net but was also denied. Bafana Ba Style could not get their route in as their unbeaten streak was put to an end.
