The Mamelodi Sundowns DStv Diski Team is gearing up for their third match of the season when they play host to Richards Bay on Sunday morning in Attridgeville. Coach Sinthemba Badela will be back on the touchline against the Natal Rich Boyz, who are 15th on the standings, just two points behind Bafana Ba Style who are 11th.
In their first two encounters of the season, Masandawana have been creating a lot of chances which will be handy a positive sign going into Sunday’s game as they will be looking for an impressive performance on home soil. Coach, Themba, touched on the readiness of his side and the improvements the team has been working on.
“It’s important for the team to collect maximum points this weekend because it’s the first time we will be playing at the Lucas Moripe Stadium which is our home venue. It will be good for the confidence of the team as we feel a bit disappointed not to have collected maximum points in the last two games as we have created more opportunities than the oppositions,. If we were not creating chances it would be a bigger concern. We have worked hard during the week, and we will continue to work on it to try to make sure that we paint better pictures for the players to recognise when they get into the scoring opportunities,” he said.
The Natal Rich Boyz have not yet registered a point in this new season. They lost 2-1 in their season opener against Royal AM and 2-0 against Orlando pirates. This makes Coach Themba believe that they will come guns blazing, making this a hard, yet entertaining match. He said: “We are playing against Richards Bay who are a very good side. We could not get footage of their game against Royal AM but we managed to watch their game against Orlando Pirates and they did very well. They have got some good players. They’ve got a number 11 who plays as a number 10 in the midfield – a left footed player – he dribbles. They have got a number 18 and 7 on the wings who are very good, and the captain in the centre back who is also a good player. We are expecting a tough game but we are well prepared and we are looking forward to it.”
The clash between Mamelodi Sundowns DStv Diski Team and Richards Bay will take place on Sunday, 24 September, at the Lucas Moripe Stadium. Kick off is set for 10H00.
