Ele-vating Display: Brilliant Brazilians Deliver Emphatic Performance against Golden Ladies

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies striker Andisiwe Mgcoyi turned in a splendid performance against Golden Ladies in their second game of the Hollywoodbets Super League, scoring four times as the continental champions claimed an emphatic 11-0 victory at the TUT Stadium.

It marked a perfect afternoon for the fleet-footed forward who shared the top scorer award after finishing last season with 27 goals.

In the build-up to the game, Coach Jerry ‘Kappa’ Tshabalala backed his troops to take their opportunities and his charges did just that with Chuene Morifi opening the scoring after just two minutes into the game. Thereafter, it was one-way traffic with Mgcoyi grabbing a stunning first-half hat-trick.

The likes of Rhoda Mulaudzi and Thalea Smidt also found the back of the net in an utterly dominant first-half showing which saw Banyana Ba Style display an impressive ultra-attacking display. At that stage, Sundowns Ladies were in beast mode and headed into the break with a staggering 6-0 scoreline.

At the beginning of the second half, Chantelle Esau made the way for the in-form Miche Minnies who bagged a brace in the season opener. Just after the resumption, Coach Tshabalala’s troops scored a seventh with Mgcoyi sealing her haul.

Not long after, Minnies continued her rich vein of scoring form by scoring Sundowns’ eighth goal of the afternoon with a superb header. Boitumelo Rabale also got her name in the scorers’ column before she was replaced by Melinda Kgadiete. Four-goal hero Andisiwe Mgcoyi was also replaced by Siphesihle Magaze.

Melinda wasted no time in announcing her arrival, scoring Sundowns’ tenth of the afternoon before Minnies bagged her brace as Coach Tshabalala’s charges continued to showcase clinical finishing. Minnies did put the ball at the back of the net for her hat-trick in the last minute but was adjudged to be offside by the referee.

On an afternoon when The Brazilians dished out a ruthless attacking lesson to their opponents, Coach Tshabalala was proud of his team’s overall performance

“This was a very superb outing from the team because we showed our class on both ends of the pitch. We spoke about the need for a response after our first game and the team responded in the best possible way. It was so refreshing to showcase our usual attacking style of football which has won us accolades both domestically and continentally. Aside from the goals we scored, we showed our superiority in every area of the pitch. I am very excited about the showing today and we are going to build on this performance,” Kappa stated.
