Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies delivered a dominant attacking display at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday, hammering Richmond United 8-0 in the latest round of the Hollywoodbets Super League.
Boitumelo Rabale’s superb hat-trick led the charge, supported by a brace from Lebohang Ramalepe. Refilwe Tholakele, Melinda Kgadiete and Miche Minnies also found the net as Banyana Ba Style scored eight goals in a match for the second time this season.
Having previously netted five goals against their opponents this campaign, the Brazilians were eager to extend their dominance over their Northern Cape counterparts and they did so in style. Ramalepe opened the scoring in the 12th minute, followed by Tholakele’s strike in the 25th minute, marking her fifth goal in the last five games.
The floodgates opened in the second half as the reigning Continental Champions unleashed their attacking fury, with Rabale claiming a memorable hat-trick. Ramalepe added another goal to complete her brace, while late strikes from Kgadiete and Minnies sealed an emphatic victory.
Kgadiete, whose last goal came in this same fixture earlier this season, expressed her excitement with the comprehensive attacking performance, stating, “It was a great game as we created numerous chances and capitalized on most of them. Although the scoreline was one-sided, it was a tough game. We are pleased with how we executed our game plan perfectly. I am happy with my goal and aim to build on this performance moving forward.”
Regina Mogolola, who delivered a stellar defensive performance, praised the team’s unity, “We needed the three points and big scoreline, especially after facing very defensive teams recently. We trained tirelessly for this fixture, as we do for every game. I must commend the attackers today for their selflessness, which enabled us to finish off the game strongly. Their teamwork and dedication were evident and it is this unity that makes us a formidable team on the field.”
The 8-0 victory matched Sundowns Ladies’ biggest win this season, equaling their eight-goal performance against the University of Pretoria on Matchday 13.
With this win, Sundowns Ladies secured their 15th victory of the season in 18 games, scoring a league-high 74 goals while conceding just 10 times, boasting the league’s best defense.
Boitumelo Rabale’s hat-trick propelled her to the top of the Sundowns Ladies’ scoring chart with 11 goals, surpassing Nthabiseng Majiya by one goal. Miche Minnies now has eight goals and Refilwe Tholakele moves up to seven for the season. Lebohang Ramalepe’s brace ties her with Andisiwe Mgcoyi at five goals each. Salome Kekana, Asanda Hadebe and Zanele Nhlapho have each scored three goals, while Kholosa Biyana, Chuene Morifi, Regina Mogolola, Rhoda Mulaudzi, Karabo Dhlamini and Melinda Kgadiete have two goals apiece. Cimone Sauls, Malebogo Shawe, Bambanani Mbane, Lehlogonolo Mashigo and Khunjulwa Mali have each scored once.
