Excellent Eight: Sundowns Ladies smash eight past First Touch

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies continued their excellent run of form ahead of the CAF Women’s Champions League with a comprehensive 8-0 victory over First Touch in the latest round of the Hollywoodbets Super League.

Lelona Daweti was the star of the show as she bagged a brilliant hat-trick coupled with a brace from Boitumelo Rabale and further strikes from Andisiwe Mgcoyi, Melinda Kgadiete, and Miche Minnies.

Andile Dlamini retained her place in the goal while Zanele Nhlapho, Regina Mogolola, Tiisetso Makhubela, and Thalea Smidt started in defense. Chuene Morifi, Rhoda Mulaudzi, and Lelona Daweti began in the middle of the park while Boitumelo Rabale, Nonhlanhla Mthandi, and Melinda Kgadiete started upfront.

A scintillating first half of attacking football saw Banyana Ba Style score four goals thanks to a double from Boitumelo Rabale, coupled with early strikes from Lelona Daweti and Melinda Kgadiete.

Four more goals followed in the second half with Lelona Daweti grabbing her first treble of the season. Substitutes Andisiwe Mgcoyi and Miche Minnies also ensured they registered their name on the score sheet as Sundowns Ladies racked up their 8th straight victory without conceding.

The Brazilians have now scored a whopping 112 goals in the Hollywoodbets Super League this season, a staggering figure which excites Coach Jerry ‘Kappa’ Tshabalala.

“Our desire is to score plenty of goals because they win you and ultimately titles. We have high expectations for ourselves in front of the goal and one of our aims is to achieve a goal difference of +100. Although we are gunning for these numbers, we aim to frequently win games and enjoy ourselves on the pitch. Scoring these number of goals increases our confidence ahead of the CAF Women’s Champions League which is just around the corner. We aim to take this attacking form into Morocco,” Kappa declared.

Coach Jerry was also pleased with the return of key players who has missed the last few games due to injuries.

“Kudos must go to the medical team for the way they have managed the health of our players. To have Andisiwe Mgcoyi and Rhoda Mulaudzi back to scoring form after several bouts of injuries bodes well for us. Their return to the team is perfect timing because we will be counting on their experience during the CAF Women’s Champions League,” Coach Jerry concluded.

The 8-0 bashing of First Touch means Sundowns Ladies have now reached 73 points, with 24 wins in 27 games, scoring 112 goals and conceding just 11 times. Banyana Ba Style has also achieved a mammoth goal difference of +101.

On the Sundowns goal-scoring charts, Boitumelo Rabale has now scored 21 goals, two more than Miche Minnies who is on 19 strikes. Andisiwe Mgcoyi has scored 11 times, Melinda Kgadiete has scored 9 goals and Rhoda Mulaudzi has scored 8 goals.

Coach Jerry’s troops have also officially retained the Hollywoodbets Super League title and will next be heading to Morocco for the defense of their CAF Women’s Champions League trophy.

Congratulations to Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies for yet another incredible performance!!!
