Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies return to action on Sunday when they welcome Copperbelt Ladies to the Lucas Moripe Stadium for another crucial Hollywoodbets Super League showdown.
The Brazilians are riding high on confidence following their emphatic 3–0 victory over the University of Johannesburg in midweek, a performance that stretched their unbeaten run to 12 matches and solidified their grip at the top of the standings.
With 22 wins in 26 games and an impressive tally of 76 goals scored while conceding only seven, Banyana Ba Style have shown exceptional consistency this season.
Forward Melinda Kgadiete, who has scored eight goals this campaign, says she feels fully prepared for the upcoming clash, both individually and as part of the collective.
“My confidence is in a really good place, and I feel fully ready for Sunday’s match. As a team, the energy at training has been incredible, and everyone is pushing each other to stay sharp. Defender Bambanani Mbane echoed the sentiment, stressing the importance of maintaining focus against a Copperbelt side that has proven difficult to break down.
“They are a tough side to face, and earlier this season, they managed to hold us to a draw, so we know this is not a team that we can underestimate. They are disciplined, they work hard, and they make you fight for every moment. For us, the mission is very clear because we need all three points. At this stage of the season, every point counts, and we are determined to deliver another strong performance.”
The Brazilians have enjoyed a strong record against Copperbelt Ladies in recent seasons, although their most recent meeting earlier this year ended in a goalless draw. Last season, Sundowns secured a 2–0 away win before edging Copperbelt 3–2 at home. Two seasons ago, Banyana Ba Style claimed a dominant 4–1 victory and also earned a hard-fought 1–0 away win.
