Mamelodi Sundowns will travel to the Winelands to meet Stellenbosch FC for the third time this season on Wednesday night at the DHL Cape Town Stadium. Despite the two sides having met twice already, in this midweek fixture, Masandawana will be vying to collect all points on offer to remain top of the summit in the domestic league.
The title defenders head to this match coming from the back of a crucial victory in the Champions League. Speaking to Downs’ forward, Iqraam Rayners, who has been having an impressive run of form in his first season at Chloorkop, he stated that the victory over the weekend will boost their morale. With Stellenbosch having won their match in the CAF Confederation Cup, he admitted it would be a difficult encounter.
“I know it’s going to be a tough one against Stellenbosch FC, but we will keep working and pushing each other on and off the field. For us, it’s all about winning the game on Wednesday, and it is possible with the kind of support we have been receiving from the coaches and the technical team,” the 28-year-old forward stated.
“I think Stellenbosch will come into this game confident. They are coming from Angola with a win. So, it’s going to be a good opportunity for both teams to get the three points, but most importantly for us, it is to focus on ourselves and ensure we get it right.
Rayners concluded by encouraging the Yellow Nation to come and support his side at the stadium, saying: “To all the Mamelodi Sundowns supporters, please come to Cape Town in numbers to support us. Be behind the team, and we will ensure that we make you happy by getting the three points.”
Mamelodi Sundowns will visit Stellenbosch on Wednesday evening at the DHL Cape Town Stadium. Kick-off has been scheduled for 19H30, live on SuperSport TV.
