Isabella Ludwig’s Hat-Trick Powers Banyana Ba Style to Another Big Win

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies delivered another commanding performance in the Hollywoodbets Super League, cruising to a 5–0 victory over the University of Johannesburg (UJ) at the UJ Soweto Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Isabella Ludwig was the star of the show, netting a superb hat-trick in the 30th, 41st and 63rd minutes as she tormented the UJ defence throughout the afternoon. Refilwe Tholakele added her name to the scoresheet in the 59th minute with a confident finish, while Lelona Daweti marked her return to action in style, finding the back of the net in the 78th minute after being sidelined for some time.

With this emphatic result, Banyana Ba Style have now recorded 20 wins and 2 draws in 24 games, scoring 66 goals and conceding just seven this season.

Munashe Mugwara, who once again impressed with her energy and link-up play, praised the team’s preparation and collective execution.

“I feel we did very well as a team, especially with our build-up to the game. We worked hard in training to sharpen our combinations and it was fulfilling to see several of the ideas we practiced come to life today. It was an intense match, but we kept our focus from start to finish. The coaching team was very clear in their instructions, and we all played with purpose and confidence. We are growing in every match and this result shows what we can achieve when we stay united and disciplined.”

Defender Thato Letsoso echoed similar sentiments, reflecting on the team’s tactical awareness and determination.

“The game was eventful and everything we planned and prepared for throughout the week resulted in a good win for us. We are so happy with how we managed the game from the first whistle to the last. Our defensive structure was solid and we capitalized on their weaknesses at key moments. The communication between the backline, midfield and attack was excellent and that made it easier to control the tempo.”

Boitumelo Rabale continues to lead the scoring charts with 11 goals. Hot on her heels are Isabella Ludwig and Refilwe Tholakele, who have both reached double figures with 10 goals each following their latest performances. Nthabiseng Majiya has contributed eight goals, while Melinda Kgadiete has registered seven strikes. Nonhlanhla Mthandi and Noxolo Cesane have each scored six times. Munashe Mugwara has found the back of the net twice, while Lehlogonolo Mashigo, Tiisetso Makhubela, Bambanani Mbane, Katleho Malebana and Lelona Daweti have each scored once.
