Mamelodi Sundowns have been marching on with their preparations ahead of the weekend’s continental clash against Al Ahly SC. The two teams will come face-to-face with one another for the third campaign in a row in the captivating CAF Champions League.
Downs will be looking to their leading goalscorer Peter Shalulile to lead the line against the Egpytian giants on Saturday evening. Shalulile leads the way domestically for The Brazilians and has scored in both the preliminary and group stages of this year’s competition.
The Namibian frontman says that he is aware of the competitive nature of the opponents he will be going up against and the team is gearing up for the encounter accordingly “We are playing against good players and tactical players that are very good. As for our preparations we have been preparing very well for them.”
Shalulile will be coming up against the Egyptian Giants for the first time in this competition and noted the significance of winning the game ahead to advance to the next round of the Championship: “Going into the first round with Al Ahly is very important to everyone, it’s important to the club itself and everyone that is playing for Sundowns. For us it’s just to make sure that we go through to the next round and for that, it requires each and everyone to be on their highest form and just to do good on that particular day.”
The Brazilian striker shared his ambitions to get another star for the club and the possibility of turning that dream into reality: “It’s very important for the club to get a second star. It would be a dream come true for each and every player because every player wants to win this, it would be such a blessing in one’s life having a second star.”
Mamelodi Sundowns take on Al Ahly at the Al Salam stadium on Saturday evening. The game will kick off at 21:00 and will be available via livestream on the Official Mamelodi Sundowns Facebook Page.

It’s over. Let’s try again next season. We just didn’t have the material to win it this season. Plus our coaching committee is not helping the situation. How Mkhulise finished the match is beyond my comprehension. This Al Ahly won’t win the CCL, I don’t see them beating Wydad.
It’s even painful that Zebbies are going through to the next round while we get knocked out in the quarterfinals
Wrong substitutes from the technical staff. Why substitute Siriano and Matupa who performed well better than other players. Monumental error from Onyango.
Onyango a very stupid player he should have fixed that ball and get a booking or a sent off but he thought of himself to play again in Atteridgeville and I don’t think Mkhuma is much better than Vila and lastly which means sense of urgency is not our philosophy irrespective we trailed behind we just knocking the ball unnecessary now I think we’ve got a mountain to climb but we’ll see all is not lost.
But why do these three coaches hate Jali so much? What did he do to them to treat him like this?
these three coaches is destroying our most trusted players what happ to kekana and jali? onyango gifted al ahly second goal I’m disappointed
