“It’s an important part of history.” – Coach Rulani Mokwena.

In a tight affair at the Cairo International Stadium, Mamelodi Sundowns’ chances were limited but they remained focused defensively and collected maximum points on the road. The Brazilians Co-Coach Rulani Mokwena feels complacent with their 1 – 0 win against Al Ahly SC on Saturday evening.

“We can probably say, a satisfactory trip where we are not entirely happy, we always want to improve, but if you look at it where we went and wanted six points we got only four, if it’s four out of six you can be satisfied and content.”

Coach Rulani was pleased with the standard and proficiency of their camp in Alexandria, Cairo and said they were able to carry out other plans such as rehabilitation and treatment for their wounded players.

“We had other objectives, like to try to put the team together, to try to work a little bit to improve a little bit on the tactical and technical themes in preparing for the two different opponents. We also tried to work on our conditioning, particularly for the players that have not been playing and getting a lot of game time. The facilities also helped players that are returning from injury like Mosa [Lebusa] and Lebohang Maboe.

Second-half solitary goal from Thapelo Morena lifted Masandawana to a 3 point gap at the top of Group A log standing in the CAF Champions League. The Masandawana Coach pointed to the load of work that lies ahead for the team as they return to domestic league competition.

“It’s an important part of history because we haven’t won in Cairo in the last five outings, so it was the sixth time lucky. We hadn’t scored in Cairo, so you kick two buckets with one stone, you can then be in a position to celebrate the little bit of the landmark and the achievement and try to focus on what’s next because we’ve got two very, very important games now – we’ve got TS Galaxy and Maritzburg United so we need to bring our feet firmly back to the ground.”

Mamelodi Sundowns are back on the road for the DStv Premiership action against TS Galaxy on Wednesday at the Mbombela Stadium. Kick off is at 19H30, live on SuperSport.

The middle man is always not officiating well whenever Southern African teams visit the North Africa team, The big question is WHY?

Winning away to AL Ahly in front of thousands of their followers proved that we fear no one. We can beat anyone anywhere.
Let’s extend the lead in the PSL and deal with the rest of the continental assignment without local pressure.
