After scoring six goals past City Lads Ladies over the weekend, Sundowns Ladies are back in action midweek as they face Durban Ladies at the King Zwelithini Stadium.
Those six goals solidified Banyana Ba Style’s incredible scoring form, making them the highest scorers in the league with 60 goals. Across all competitions this season, the Brazilians have scored 81 goals, a staggering feat.
Lebogang Ramalepe, who was among the scorers against City Lads, is aiming for more when they face ninth-placed Durban Ladies.
“We just have to maintain the same level of performance we displayed in the last game and ensure we capitalize on the chances we create. It was great to find the back of the net last time out and everyone on the team is determined to maintain our rich scoring form,” expressed Ramalepe.
Banyana Ba Style have been dominant in this fixture in recent years. Last season, the Tshwane giants defeated the Durbanites 6-1 at home and 5-0 away. The season before that, Sundowns Ladies secured victories of 5-0 at home and 1-0 away. Three seasons ago, the Brazilians registered a 3-1 away victory and a 3-0 home victory.
Lebogang believes that these recent streaks of victories against their opponents serve as a strong motivating factor going into Wednesday’s fixture.
“We are highly motivated because the coach asked for more than four goals in the previous game and we managed to score six. So, all we need to do is pick up from where we left off in the next game. Despite the recent good results against them, we are not going to be too relaxed because the league is more competitive than it has ever been,” Ramalepe concluded.
The match between Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and Durban Ladies is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, October 11th, at the King Zwelithini Stadium, with kick-off set for 13h00.
