Sundowns Ladies will be aiming to take another giant step towards clinching their second treble in three years as they face TS Galaxy Queens in Wednesday’s Hollywoodbets Super League fixture.
Having achieved success in both the CAF Women’s Champions League and the COSAFA Qualifiers, Banyana Ba Style knows that a victory against Queens will all but secure their fourth straight league crown.
The Brazilians come into Wednesday’s fixture on the back of seven straight league victories since October. Lerato Kgasago believes that the run of form has left the team in high spirits ahead of the clash against Queens.
“The mood is very high and we are looking forward to the game as we would like to finish the league on a high note. We have put ourselves into a very dominant position thanks to our consistent performances. Throughout the season, we have played as a unit and collectively, we are all looking to continue the push to end the campaign on a perfect slate,” Kgasago stated.
Galaxy Queens are one of the very few teams that have prevented Sundowns Ladies from securing three points this season. In their first meeting, both sides settled for a 1-1 draw and Lerato believes that the upcoming game is not solely about seeking revenge.
“We don’t approach football games seeking revenge. Certainly, they were a tough opponent earlier in the season because they are a very good team. However, Wednesday’s game presents an opportunity for us to address the mistakes we faced in the first match. But, I must add that they owe us one,” a smiling Lerato added.
Regarding her expectations for the game, Kgasago stated, “It will be a very tough game because both teams have experienced players. When you look at the Hollywoodbets Super League table, you can see that they have performed very well and for the majority of the season, they were in the top four. Nevertheless, we are proud of what we have achieved ourselves and we are determined to continue our impressive run of form.”
The match between Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and TS Galaxy Queens is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, December 6th. The kick-off is set for 14h00.
