Mamelodi Sundowns duo Bradley Ralani and Teboho Mokoena comment on CAF CL debuts

The Brazilians played some excellent football in both their home and away encounters as they began their CAF Champions League group stage journey. Bafana Ba Style scored a fine team goal in their win against Al-Hilal on home soil, followed by a goalless draw a week later in their first away encounter against Al-Merrikh. 25-Years-old Mokwena who put pen to paper for Mamelodi Sundowns in the January transfer period had his first taste in the prestigious tournament, coming on as a substitute. Mokwena shared his CAF experience in an exclusive interview:

“Champions league it’s almost similar to the National team level because almost all the players competing are playing for their national teams.”

Ralani, who was signed for the Brazilians in December also had his first start in the tournament during Masandawana’s goalless draw against Al-Merrikh in the second match of group A in Cairo. The Kimberley born star described the Champions League experience as fascinating:

“The whole thing about the Champions League is just a lot more interesting and totally different to what we have domestically – the travelling, hotels, training fields and obviously the opposition as well, I’m just looking forward to making the most out of this journey and helping the team reach its goal.”

Masandawana’s performance has been on a high in the DStv Premiership, after 21 matches played in the domestic league, Downs have secured 48 points as they sit top of the log and 17 points clear of second-placed Orlando Pirates. Ralani has proven to be a favourite amongst the supporters since making his move to the home of Champions, he took a moment to recognize the Yellow Nation’s supporters for their warmth towards him and the club.
“The fans have always been of great support to the club, we love and appreciate them and our humble plea is for them to continue to rally behind us.”
Mamelodi Sundowns lock horns with Al-Ahly SC on Saturday, 26 February in the CAF Champions League group A encounter at the Al-Salam Stadium. Kick-off is at 21H00, live on SuperSport.
