As the globe celebrates International Day of Education, which is observed internationally on the 24th of January, Mamelodi Sundowns and leading online learning platform, Upskillist have announced a partnership that will empower not only its players and employees but the entire population by making education more accessible with a wide range of online courses.
The courses will be available for free to everyone that registers on the Mamelodi Sundowns Fanzone https://sundownsfc.co.za/fanzone/kaboyellow/fanzone/. At the end of the course, successful students can receive a globally accredited certificate from Upskillist.

Talking about the partnership, the Chairman of Mamelodi Sundowns, Tlhopie Motsepe, said “As a sports organisation, we are always motivated to find partnerships and deals that add value to the club as well as the brands that we work with” The chairman said, “Mamelodi Sundowns is also driven to find businesses that add value to our supporters and give back to society. That is the reason we are delighted to announce that our first partnership of 2023 sees Mamelodi Sundowns and Upskillist join forces to provide free online courses to everyone for the whole year.”
The Masandawana Chairman trusts that the initiative will assist the supporters to enhance their CVs “as we know, one of the major challenges that many of our people face is around unemployment; we hope that our supporters will take this opportunity to learn for free so that they can strengthen their resumes, explore different subjects, and improve their chances in the job market” he added.
This year’s theme of International Day of Education is “To invest in people, invest in education.” This is exactly what Mamelodi Sundowns is doing.
In the past year, Mamelodi Sundowns launched the Live Limitless Internship Programme, which gave an opportunity to five youngsters to get and gain practical experience from Mamelodi Sundowns by working within the clubs’ different departments. This reflects Masandawana’s commitment to education.
The club has encouraged many of its players to also open an Upskillist account, as player development has become an important target for the club. In addition to this, the club will be recognising those supporters who have completed numerous courses on the online platform with distinction and will be awarding prizes to those supporters who have seized the opportunity to develop themselves. Although January is usually a month for students to return back to school, Bafana Ba Style are sending the message to all supporters that with education “The Sky is The Limit”.
