After securing the services of Gabonnelwe Salome Kekana and Tiisetso ‘Bastos’ Makhubela from Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) Ladies, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have added another name to their roster ahead of the new season. The latest addition is Miche Minnies who joins Banyana Ba Style from Vasco da Gama Ladies.
Minnies who plays as a striker and left winger propelled the Western Cape side to the Hollywoodbets Super League last month after she bagged a brace against City Lads from the Eastern Cape in the final of the Sasol League National Championship.
With her seven goals in the competition, the 21-year-old finished with the top goal-scorer award and was adjudged the Best Player of the Tournament.
“I am so excited about the support that I have received since I joined Masandawana. This is a massive club with several gigantic achievements in recent times, none bigger than the treble triumph attained last season. There is so much to learn from the team and I cannot wait to get started and to show everyone what I am capable of,” Minnies declared.
The right-footed attacker is widely regarded as one of the best smashers of the ball thanks to her ability to score from long-range.
“In recent times, I have been called ‘Big-name cracker’, a nickname that is inspired by my ability to score some cracking goals. I love to play intricate passes but there are times that I am encouraged to try my luck from long-range and I am hoping to make my mark at my new team,” concluded Minnies.
Across the three competitions last season (Hollywoodbets Super League, COSAFA CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers, and the inaugural edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League in Egypt), Sundowns Ladies scored an incredible 113 goals. Thus, the acquisition of Minnies comes as a statement of intent as the treble-winners seek to retain the laurels claimed last campaign.
We welcome Miche Minnies to the team of Champions!!
