Midweek action awaits Mamelodi Sundowns as they return to the Betway Premiership after cup action in the MTN8. The fixture sees the Pretoria-based side making their way back to Loftus to host Milford FC, a side they’ll be meeting for the first time, on Wednesday night.
Fresh off their MTN8 appearance where they booked a spot in the final this past weekend, Masandawana is now gearing up to face the newly promoted side.
Due to the two sides not sharing any historic data, adjustments in the opening minutes of the match will dictate the tempo for the hosts. While previewing the encounter, defender, Malibongwe Khoza said his side anticipates an energetic Milford and they are well prepared to face the KwaZulu-Natal based side.
“We are expecting a very energetic team in Milford. We are also expecting a very counterattacking play from them. We are also very ready and have prepared enough for them as we look to make our supporters happy.”
Milford are currently 5th on the log and they have been settling well in top-flight football, having only lost a single match. These results, according to Khoza, are not a surprise.
“Their performance in the previous matches is not a surpeise to us because they have a lot of experienced players. That has really helped them keep the momentum and keeping the team stable,” Khoza said.
While they are anticipating a tough fixture, Bafana Ba Style will be hunting for a statement result, looking to add one more victory to their already lengthy unbeaten home record in the league. Furthermore, they will be looking to display an unforgettable performance against a side they’ll be meeting for the first time.
Mamelodi Sundowns will host Milford FC on Wednesday night at Loftus Versfeld. Kick-off has been set for 19H30, live on SuperSport TV.
