Mamelodi Sundowns has a date with Maritzburg United tomorrow at 18:00, the game will take place at Lucas Moripe Stadium. This is an away game, but Masandawana will be playing on a ground that they are used to. Out of ten games played at Atteridgeville, only one loss has been recorded with seven wins and two draws.
“We started very well compared to where we are at the moment and it does not look good when it comes to the results. We thought the game against Highlands would give us an edge, we went with the attitude that we were going to win. Unfortunately, we started on the wrong note and we conceded, we had to come from behind and that puts stress on the team. Hopefully, we do not start like that with Maritzburg,” said Coach Pitso Mosimane.
There are six games left in the current season and Masandawana are six points behind log leaders, Kaizer Chiefs.
“If somebody says we are not looking at what other people are doing in our profession then it means you do not understand the log table, we can’t lie but we can say we are focusing on our game and will take it game by game as no one is guaranteed a win.”
The Brazilians have already played Maritzburg twice this season and won both times. One of those games was the final of the Telkom Knockout which saw us come out on top and claim our first silverware for the season.
Masandawana last played against Cape Town City on Monday and have had a few days in between and that is something that Coach Pitso has welcomed, as it will give players who are injured a chance to recover. “We have been getting two days break in between our games and a day for us is a bonus.”
“Maritzburg is a team that fights a lot, they were losing two zero against Leopards and they came back to 2-2. If you remember Friday nights at the Harry Gwala Stadium you will understand the character of the team. There is a fighting spirit, there is a never give up mentality and that is the team we are playing and the scores are always narrow and we are desperate and need a win. They have good players like Moseamedi who always scores against us and that guy likes big games. It is a team that attacks and scores goals and we have to respect that and I just hope we don’t concede a goal early because for the last two games we have been chasing the game, hopefully, we don’t chase the game and we lead the game as we did with Bidvest Wits and we ended up winning and mentally it’s helping.”
Plz plz field players who are hungry & willing to
die on the field of play…
I think this is a challengin
Time for our technical Tim
Rumours that some of our players,, betray our
team by drinking liquor
Plz Yello nation stop
making us a laughin
stock
We “LOVE U GYZ
Just play with all ur heart for the team, for the yellow nation
Can we win tomorrow, no draw please. Anyways behind u 100%
Just treat these games like you do the CAFCL games. Imagine playing against those African giants and you’ll come out victorious. We can’t let corruption lift this league and we need that second 🌟 on our jerseys so no other team comes close to us in South Africa
Don’t worry coach we will take this league, people should stop panicking our team always start slowly. I am glad lost early it gonna be a wakeup call to d boys.
This is a must win game
Please coach play our natural full backs and lethal striker upfront (Laffor/ Mahlambi). Our false nine is not giving us any result and we need to be robust in our approach. Also we can’t play Coetzee ahead of Jali, his experience speaks volumes and that’s what we need to boss our midfield. #MaSandawana Forever

All the best masandawana
Honestly speaking, I don’t see us winning any of our remaining games, including the Nedbank Cup Final. We look thé weakest team of them all after this Covid-19 break. It’s like all the other teams were training all along while our team was somewhere else enjoying the break
Our MDC team could’ve done a much better job
We hope the fielded players will come to the party and prove the doubters wrong. I have heard supporters who complain from the beginning of the season to the end, those with a very sharp eye to see all the errors the players and the technical team commit. Its normal. When the team does well its either they go on silent Mode waiting to resurface with a slasher. Its normal. My appeal to such supporters is at least when the team does well come to the party and celebrate with the rest, that on its own has power to eliminate negativity. We have lifted trophies with a worse team than we have now, seasons change , we hope to change as supporters. I choose to use my positive energy to support my team when things do not go their way especially, motivate them where possible, and celebrate with them when they get the victory. After all it is for prestige to us supporters to them it’s work, doing what they love and called to do.l wish the team the best on the remaining games. Arise warriors and fight, the League is up for grabs!!Kabo Yellow!
It’s not late to put pressure on Chiefs, even compete for the league title , however it will only depend how the coach approaches the Maritzburg game on Friday. This thing of 10 passes at the back with such a slow and shaky defence, vulnerable middle-field,etc just won’t win us the game. We need tempo from first whistle., eagerness to attack, awareness by the middle-field,play young players eg. Makgalwa, Young Khulise, than those oldies.Tomorrow game need Laffor, even Menza can make a bit of change fore-front. Coach can you please tell Sirino that goals comes from team effort not individual genius. While we love him, but being greedy with the ball, and over-dribbling won’T give us any chance of closing gap with Chiefs. By the way 1-0 win over Maritzburg can change the whole league picture. So please coach win us tomorrow’s game, as supporters will continue to rally behind this beautiful team
All the best masandawana
In PITSO and the technical team as well as players we believe in you, maybe that loss against Capetown City is a blessing in disguise, it’s a wake up call for everyone, Sundowns fc will try to win all their remaining games trust me on that one the only match that will give us problems is against Thieves FC. The history always favour Kaizer THIEVES but we will try to overcome that
its time we take this seriously….. Celtic gave us a 2nd chance….lets do our best. The past two games were very bad.

Guys we can still do this…
remember that we are used to such pressure…
We are on position 2, but Chiefs supporters, management, and technical team are all worried about what happens in our games…
Give them all “Running tummies…”

Much better starting 11. Thanx very much coach and your technical team. Surely we’re taking all the points here
These don’t deserve to be at sundowns, they are not serious and they get paid to much and their stupid coach I have seen that today against maritzburg
Dalom how many points we took today
Lol. That was a much better play yesterday. We were just unlucky. Maybe this league is just not meant for us.
