After a positive start to their 2026/27 season, following a victory in their MTN8 encounter, Mamelodi Sundowns will kick-off their Betway Premiership campaign on Tuesday night when they visit TS Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium.
Bafana Ba Style opened their 2026/27 account on Sunday and only had a day to prepare for the encounter against the Rockets. While it is not enough days to prepare, Downs captain Themba Zwane said he’s positive that his side will collect all points on offer.
“The wasn’t enough time for proper preparations considering we just came back from a Sunday fixture in the MTN8 but we know what to expect. We also looked at the game we played against them the last time we were in Mpumalanga, so we know what to expect. We know what to do and we expect a great game.”
The last meeting between the two sides saw Masandawana walking away with a defeat in the final matches of last season. With that fact, Zwane stated that they are aware of the kind of opponent they are meeting and is hoping to have a better match than the last time they were in Mpumalanga.
“We have to win against them. Every time we have played against them, they have given us a tough time but we need to fight for the three points,” he said.
The captain concluded by encouraging the yellow nation to come out in numbers. He said: “I would like to encourage our supporters to come in numbers and support us. It’s our first league game and we would love to see them come in numbers and support us.”
Mamelodi Sundowns will go head-to-head with TS Galaxy on Tuesday night at the Mbombela Stadium. Kick-off has been scheduled for 19H30, live on SuperSport TV.
