A different task awaits Mamelodi Sundowns this week as they switch their focus to the Nedbank Cup face-off against National First Division (NFD) side and debutants, NB La Masia on Tuesday evening at the Dobsonville Stadium.
As they gear up for this encounter which takes place two days after their clash against Orlando Pirates, Coach Rulani Mokwena states that they have been preparing for their hosts and are aware that it won’t be an easy game. he further mentioned that they have had to put the extra work in preparing for the opener.
“We are looking forward to it. It’s an interesting team that we will be playing against. It is well coached and Daine Klate and his technical team have done a very good job to put the team together. To reach this stage of the competition means they’ve got something. The style of play is completely different as opposed to last season. It’s an interesting team with some good players who are experienced,” he stated.
“We know how difficult playing NFD teams can be and that’s why we have had to work very hard to profile the team. There are quite a lot of the players have played in the PSL and we managed to get some of the games and also attend one of their games last week against Tuks. We are looking forward to the game, it’s going to be one interesting encounter,” he continued.
Masandawana have played their previous match without a few players due to injuries, according to the head coach. With a jam-packed schedule ahead of them, he anticipates rotations occurring a lot, even in the Nedbank Cup Round of 32, but promises a strong team for the Nedbank Cup affair.
“We have to try to put the best team on the pitch. There might be a couple of rotations as there were in the previous game. we will rotate and see what we can get out because we have a very difficult program coming up in the next couple of weeks. We have to try and make sure that everybody is ready and prepared. Let’s see what we can put together for tomorrow,” he concluded.
Mamelodi Sundowns will do go head-to-head with NB La Masia in the Nedbank Cup Round of 32 on Tuesday evening at the Dobsonville Stadium. Kick-off is set for 19H00, live on SuperSport TV.
