Mamelodi Sundowns are geared up to seal their sixth consecutive League title on Tuesday evening as they face Maritzburg United. The Brazilians will be looking to end the season on a high and secure three points in their last league game. Midfielder, Sphelele Mkhulise previewed the forthcoming fixture.
Bafana Ba Style lead the log with sixty-nine (69) points and were crowned the 2022/23 DStv Premiership Champions in April with seven league games to go. The six times Champions will officially lift the trophy tomorrow evening after the game.
Ahead of the fixture, Mkhulise shared the team’s expectations from the opposition. “ It’s going to be a difficult game because Maritzburg is fighting for survival on the log so we are expecting them to go all out. We are well prepared for the game because we want to lift the trophy with a win and maximum points.”
The team arrived from Morocco on Monday morning and had a training session on the day as they prepare for the final clash of the season. ‘Sphe’ mentioned that they are now used to playing back-to-back games and that it’s important for the team to remain focused for every game. He further communicated that they will be looking forward to putting on a good performance.
“We will give Maritzburg the respect that they deserve and we will go into this game with the same mindset as in any other game we play. The team is determined to create chances to score and ensure that we win the game so that our supporters can be happy and celebrate the trophy handover accompanied with a victory”, expressed the Brazilians Midfielder as he touched on the team’s approach for the clash.
Mkhulise revealed some of the players from the Blue Army that they will be looking out for and mentioned Karim Kimvuidi who he regards as good in half spaces. He also added that Amadou Soukouna who is a Striker is dangerous by the box.
The Bafana Ba Style utility player relayed a message to the yellow nation and said, “To the Masandawana, we would love for you to come out in numbers tomorrow evening so that we can celebrate the League title and trophy handover together .”
