Mosimane: We Had The Will To Win

Pitso Mosimane has praised his Mamelodi Sundowns side for showing the will to win on Saturday evening in our 2-1 victory over Maritzburg United.

The result meant that the Brazilians remained the only side in the Absa Premiership to maintain an unbeaten run after five league games, with the two goals coming from Gaston Sirino and substitute Lyle Lakay.

“I was happy with the team, not because we won but because from the beginning we started right to try and win the match. I am not worried about the chances missed. I am happy because I see the attitude was totally different, that’s what helped us to win, the will to win,” the coach said after the game.

Sundowns next host Cote d’Or FC from Seychelles on Friday at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in the return leg of our CAF Champions League first round fixture having managed an impressive 5-0 victory in the away match two weekends ago.

“We are not yet ourselves because we came from a big setback with losing in the MTN8 cup against SuperSport United. We fought hard and the guys show that champions win like this, when no one thinks it’s coming. It was brilliant and it is good for the club.” Mosimane said of the win over Maritzburg.
