Mamelodi Sundowns are geared up for their DStv Premiership clash against Stellenbosch FC as they return to their domestic league duties. Brazilians Midfielder, Neo Maema shared his insights on the clash as the team looks forward to collecting three points in Cape Town.
Ahead of the game, Neo Maema shared the team’s expectations from the opposition.“It’s going to be a difficult game, especially because we had to make sure that we recover quickly from our last match. We are expecting a challenging match looking at the weather conditions in Cape Town. We are also expecting a different squad from Stellenbosch compared to when we faced them in the first half of the season.
Bafana Ba Style hosted Stellenbosch FC at home during the first half of the season and the encounter ended with a 3-0 victory for the log leaders. With both teams currently on a winning streak, the fixture is presumed to be tough and entertaining.
Maema mentioned some of the players from the Stellies squad that they will be looking out for. He brought up players like Iqraam Reyners who comes from SuperSport and is adding speed to the team. He also mentioned Junior Mandieta who is very influential in the forward space. Maema further mentioned the Stellies development striker, Devon Titus, who he says is a good player and the team will be looking out for him.
“I think that Stellenbosch is very motivated because they won their last three games and their position on the log does not change their results and performance. They will be playing at home which will be an advantage. We are not focused on their position on the log, we just need to get our game plan going and make sure that we win the game”, said the Masandawana Midfielder as he talked about the squad’s focus for the game.
The Brazilians have experienced congestion of fixtures upon their return to domestic league duties as they participate in a CAF Champions League away fixture, and a Nedbank Cup away fixture. With their resilient and impressive performance from the past fixtures, the team will be expected to put on a great performance.
Mamelodi Sundowns face Stellenbosch FC this afternoon, [5 March 2023] on an away encounter for the DStv Premiership at the Danie Craven Stadium. The league fixture will kick off at 15h30.
