On Form Diski Team Gears Up for Home Test against Richards Bay

Mamelodi Sundowns’ Diski Team is at home this weekend for their DStv Diski Challenge fixture, and they will be hosting the Richards Bay Reserves at the Tuks Stadium on Sunday morning.

The young Brazilians have been in scintillating form, and they come back from the most reputed encounter so far in the reserve league, their 5-2 victory against Durban City this past weekend at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium.

Coach Tiro’s charges had conceded first but were able to turn things around when they scored four goals in the first half. It was Oarabile Booysen who picked up the leveller for his side. Bennet Mokoena’s double brace concluded the game before even heading to the interval. Mokoena’s performance in that game saw him earn his first-team debut in their midweek clash against Golden Arrows.

Their Richards Bay counterparts, however, fell short last weekend after a 2-0 loss against the Stellenbosch Reserves. This was also their first loss this season, after recording victories in their opening two matches. They now sit seventh on the log after playing three fixtures.

The two sides last met in March last season when they played to a goalless draw in the same venue. The meeting was a difficult one with both sides fighting to see a goal while at the same time, ensuring that a goal does not go past their respective rearguards. The fixtures between the two sides in recent times have proven to be difficult yet exciting.

With such contradicting results this past weekend, this encounter promises to be an exciting one. While the Natal Rich Boys will be looking to return to winning ways, Bafana Ba Style will look to extend their winning streak.

The Mamelodi Sundowns Diski Team will clash against the Richards Bay Reserves on Sunday morning at the Tuks Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 10H00.
