Zenade’s brother, Yololwethu heard about the competition on radio and suggested that they participate as she can sing. Her brother is a fan of Mamelodi Sundowns, and it was important for him to assist her with the composition of the song.

Zenande is not a professional singer nor a soccer fan, she works for a law firm as a junior lawyer that is why she roped her brother in when they decided to create the winning song.

Hearing the announcement on radio that her song had won the Xhosa category for August, she couldn’t believe it especially knowing that there were thousands of people including professional musicians who entered the competition. 

“Winning the Million Rands would mean financial freedom for me and my family, the prize money would be used to better their lives.” Said Zenande.
