Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will look to extend their impressive start to the 2026 Hollywoodbets Super League season as they face TS Galaxy Queens at Mpumalanga Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Brazilians have enjoyed a perfect opening to their league campaign, winning their opening four matches while displaying their trademark attacking football and defensive solidity.
Goalkeeper Kgomotso Mussimango believes the team’s early-season success has been built on the positive mentality shown by the players throughout training.
“The mood is excellent within the team at the moment and I think a lot of the credit has to go to the players because everyone has been working extremely hard in training. Nobody is getting carried away by the results because we know there is still a long season ahead of us.”
Looking ahead to the fixture, Mussimango emphasized the importance of remaining focused on the team’s own objectives.
“TS Galaxy are a very good team and they will want to prove a point against us. Every team raises their level when they play Sundowns Ladies, so we expect a difficult match and we have a lot of respect for them. For us, the most important thing is to focus on ourselves, stick to our process, remain disciplined and approach this game with the same mentality we have taken into every match this season.”
Midfielder Jabulile Mbatha echoed her teammate’s sentiments, highlighting the strong spirit that has developed within the squad during their winning run.
“The mood is great within the team and you can really see that we are beginning to reap the rewards of all the hard work we put in every single day at training. Everyone is committed to improving and that healthy competition for places pushes us to become better players. The atmosphere in the dressing room has been very positive because everyone is working towards the same goal, and that unity has shown in our performances on the field.”
Mbatha also stressed the importance of maintaining the team’s winning mentality against a motivated TS Galaxy side.
“Playing against a team that is on a mission is obviously never easy because they will come with confidence and determination to get a result. We know we cannot afford to relax just because we have won our first four matches. We have to keep the same winning mentality that has brought us this far, continue believing in ourselves and remain disciplined throughout the game.”
The match between Sundowns Ladies and TS Galaxy Queens will take place on Sunday, 12 July, at Mpumalanga Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 15H00, with the match set to be broadcast live on SABC 1.
