Ricardo Nascimento Speaks On Returning to Training and His Aspirations

After a long injury lay-off during the off-season, Mamelodi Sundowns’ Brazilian Defender Ricardo Nascimento returned to South African shores to gear up for the new season. Nascimento, who has been a vital part of the defence for many years, has featured once this season, making his solitary appearance off the bench in the away win over Golden Arrows in October.

Upon his return the the team, Nascimento commented on how good it felt to rejoin the team and prepare to continue the recent years of success:

“Everything is great, the atmosphere has been really great. My teammates are top and I am happy to be back training with them.”

During the most recent international break, Ricardo got to spend some time with his family and mentioned two of his favourite places to visit when the team are not training:

“When I have these free moments I like to enjoy my time with the family. My family is very fond of Sun city and Cape Town. My son loves to see animals and visit the safari while my wife loves to know more about wine.”

The left-footed star who has been capped over 50 times for Sundowns was part of the team that lifted the CAF Super Cup in 2017.

Following the success of the Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies Team, who recently claimed the first ever CAF Women’s Champions League title in Cairo, Ricardo has expressed his desire to get his hands on the continental prize once again:

“My dream is to win the CAF Champions League. I really want to compete in the Club World Cup and in the CAF Super Cup again.

Masandawana are gearing up for a busy December period where they will play 7 games in 19 days beginning this weekend with an away game against Stellenbosch FC.
