Sundowns joining the elite of the footballing world

Our women’s team recently won the inaugural SAFA National Women’s League without being defeated and subsequently qualified to play at the first-ever CAF Champions League for women, we sat down with Coach Jerry Tshabalala and his excitement cannot be hidden.

“The feeling I’m way too excited about us winning the league. The whole idea was to win the league which we achieved,” said Tshabalala.

The Confederations of African Football announced that there will be a Champions League competition for women.

“The champions league it came as a cherry on top and I want the team to go out there and bring it home and us winning the league it is a milestone that we will forever cherish and will go down in the history books”.

We are joining the elite of the footballing world by having the men and the women sides playing in the Champions League, teams like Manchester City, FC Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint- Germain are some of the powerhouses of football that have representatives in both sections.

“If you ask anyone who was the first team coach to win SWNL it will always be Mamelodi Sundowns and Jerry Tshabalala. It hasn’t sunk in yet that we would be representing South Africa in the Champions League, I’ll only believe it the day we play our first game”.
